I also frequent the Lonely Planet travel forum, in which a fellow Aussie has asked (edited a bit by me):

"I love blues music ...
... therefore seek your advice.

This is our trip in September (with much help from other posters):

· San Francisco - Mendocino - Bend - Fossil
· Portland - Seattle - Grand Coulee
· Glacier - Yellowstone - Jackson Hole
· SLC - Bryce - Zion - GC South Rim
· Las Vegas

Are there any blues venues in that lot that people could recommend? "

see here for the original:
original LP post

Can anyone help? I'll pass on recommendations, or you can register and answer ...

JC can probably answer better, but I liked Biscuits and Blues club in San Fran.

There are a couple good blues clubs in Manhattan, one called Terra Blues, and the other whose name I forget. It's been a while. Of course, there may be others... there's one in the Village on Bleeker St. Not too many that SPECIALIZE in the blues.
