Anyone have any good input for quality tube emulation pedals for the bass?

What do you want this for?
Warmth? Distortion?

The ZVex Wooly Mammoth is THE distortion pedal for bass.

What about the Boss '59 Bassman emulator pedal?

How does the ZVex Wooly Mammoth stack up to the Big Muff Pi for Bass?

Is the Mammoth simply "better"? Or are there differences in tone?

The zvex wooly mammath is THE best by far, but its also crazy expensive. so if you dont have 300+ bucks lying around, the Devi ever bass fuzz, the frantone bassweet, or the good ol reliable muff will do you pretty good.

Then again...we're getting away from tube emulation and just talking about overdrive pedals.

That's why I asked why he wanted a tube....distortion or warmth.

I could also add "tube feel", the feeling where you dig in and the tubes sort of pull back at you.

I have to go with the Tech 21 Bass Driver or the newer VT pedal for coming close to what a good tube head does in general overall tone. Yes I'm talking about a good tube head on the cleaner side of things with that fat, warm sound, balanced punchy mids, and a bit of growl. So far the Tech 21 stuff comes close imo.

Why not get a pedal with a tube in it?
blackstar ht distortion

Or just get a new bass amp that has a tube preamp. Lots of companies make these.

Speaking of tubes, how do you like this?
