Just curious how busy we are... Answer for yourself (ie if you play with two bands and play once a month with each, your answer is 2)
How many gigs do you play on average?
You may choose only one

Looks like 9 of us have voted but no one has posted. I'll go.
I played in church every week for 6 yrs and this year got in two other bands. So now I'm in 3 bands and play a minimum of twice a week. That's not counting rehearsal for the church band.

I just joined a new band. And we're on pace to gig at least twice a month. That could be more if I was inclined to travel.

I play in a pub covers band. We've played together for nearly 4 years now in bars and venues mainly around southeast London. We average around 2 gigs a month.

We've all got day jobs and some of us have families so that's about the max for us. Those who would rather gig more often have other projects on the go as well.

Cheers

Graham

For the next few months it's 4+ but I checked 3-4. It's very streaky for me. I can have 4 gigs in a week and then go 2 weeks without. We have a steady 3rd Thursday of the month thing at one place, and have booked 2 weekends a month at another. Toss on the occasional special occasion and I have all I want. Don't forget about church a couple times a month - but I don't really count that as a gig.

I still count playing in church as a gig because I am there so much. Even though I don't get paid it takes a lot of my time (5 1/2 hrs each Sunday).

Church gigs count. I'll follow up with a "how much do you get paid per gig" poll... laugh

I play 4x a month in church, and twice a month in a pick-up band that's now playing for social events on the base.

I get $0, but it's given me a lot of incentive and opportunity to learn new stuff, and quickly.

Less than once a month, and this was valid when I was still in a band freak

My goal would be about 12 times a year, so roughly once a month and some more during festival season. All I need now is a band smile

I used to play minimum of 4 a month but things have slowed down some the past couple of seasons.

I would play more if I could. It's hard to get a lot of bookings with one band and it's hard to get into more than one band at a time.

No gigs for me. No time. Working full time, studying part time, working on a recording project and trying to fit it all around my marriage as well. I would not have it any other way smile

I'm between bands right now and the band I was in last year only played 6 gigs the whole year. My last gig was in October (to be fair, my personal life and health issues have taken a toll on my musicial activities but I hope to get back on the horse this year.

Right now I don't know if that will be by joining a band or starting one. The local scene has been taking a real hit and bookings have been pretty tough for everyone according to the other musicians I know here.

Stonefly looks for 6-8 gigs a year, and it depends on how the bookings happen. We practice about the same amount.

I'm mixed about including church - I did not.
In my case, I'd be going there once a week anyway. And we set up/rehearse for the hour before, so there is no "second trip" out to practice. Couldn't be easier!

If you worship at one place and play in another (paid or not), I could see why that would count as a gig.

I'm ramping back up again but don't want to count the chickens before they're hatched, so said <1 per month. Starting next month, I expect that to bump to 3-4 per month. That's about my comfort level, having a day job.

I didn't include church, which would push me from 4 to 6-8 gigs a month. That might increase somewhat as warm weather approaches. Knock Kneed Sally is looking to play some blues festivals this year.

I used to play a couple times a week, but we decided to go a completely direction...again.

We really need to decide what kind of music we're gonna play =/

---Really depends. Recently, we tapped into almost a house band deal, we play there about 3 times a month, along with our other steady gigs,a about once a month each.
