The Wall Street Journal Weekend edition has a short article on Yeasayer titled "Finding New Sounds in a Guitar." Not wanting to be too much of an old fart stuck with classic tones, I checked out the 2 songs posted online.

Good to know that guitarists are willing to push the tone envelope.

I like that band, but I don't consider them "rock and roll." They're a pop dance band, and I appreciate that and spend a lot of time in the mood to listen to that stuff.

These guys ( VHS or Beta? ) beat them to it by about a decade, though...

I heard sounds on O.N.E. that just sound to me like those using echo or delay...on Ambling Alp there are a lot of sounds but the guitar chord sounds didn't sound new either...the music on both sounded good though...IMHO...

Yeah... the headline could apply to an article about Adrian Belew, Andy Summers or Allan Holdsworth in 1979. I like that band, and the sounds, but I really consider it retro 80s stuff, honestly.
