So after using my Rev. C, Komplete 5 Receptor in my writing workspace for the better part of the year, I've decided to begin using it live.
Connecting it using Uniwire, within Logic Pro, has worked very well. Typically, I've worked with single Patches spread over one to four Logic channels set to Uniwire. Basically I've left the Receptor in the same Multi Patch, and simply changed the single patches as needed.
Setting up and recalling Multi Patches has been a whole different scenario. While I can thank Tony - a long time fellow player and friend from the Chicago scene, and frequent contributor here - for his initial guidance with regard to saving single Patches prior to saving Multi's, and other Receptor programming suggestions, my initial attempts in "saving" and recalling Multi Patches have been a mess. I've downloaded the manual and updates, but find the instructions to be a bit cryptic... After saving individual Patches to User locations, I thought I'd correctly saved a Multi as well. But I am unable to recall the Multi - either via the GUI, or front panel. I've tried recalling Patches by using the somewhat sketchy directions in the manual, but have only managed to locate one of the three I'd saved. The manual does not appear to offer any instructions for recalling a Multi.

I've checked out the videos on the Muse website, but other than showing all of the capabilities and configurations, there are no clear, step by step, instructions for locating and clicking on the correct icons/boxes, etc. to accomplish basic storage and recall tasks. Igor, Ted Rackley, and Jordan Rudess either miss these, or move through some of them at warp speed...

Considering the fact that there are many features to the Receptor, and that the manuals/video aren't helping, I need some assistance with this. I'm hoping that there might exist some clear cut, straightforward instructions that logically lay out the functions of the Receptor - especially where to, and how to save user data; then properly recall it - both from the from the GUI and from MIDI: using MSB and LSB commands.. I will be setting up My Multi Patches using the GUI, within Logic; but then plan to use the Receptor as a MIDI connected module live.

Any thoughts, insights, direction from those of you experienced in Receptor would be appreciated. If there are tutorials, books, etc. that go beyond what Muse offers, that would be awesome. Thanks much...

Whenever I create multis, and I use them in a snapshot format, I always create the single patches first. I create the patch within the plug, save it within the plug, then save it as a receptor single patch. I then create my multi from there. I basically only use a multi snapshot with about 4 channels. I have not encountered any problems recalling the multi.

I use my Receptor in the same way - snapshot multi for live. I'm not sure if the GUI is any different within Logic, but I always just use the Receptor GUI (Receptor remote). First you need to create a Multi. Click on Save/File (in the Multi section - upper right on screen). Next make sure that you are in Bank (not patch). From here you should be able to select New/Snapshot (lower left) - select Snapshot - name your bank. Start by calling up an empty patch - it will show the Receptor mixer. Load the plugs you wish to use on the various Receptor channels. (There are different ways of working this as far as assigning what midi channel each mixer channel is - it really depends on your controller as to what works best I think.)

I use for example, mixer channels: 1 Ivory, 2 Kontakt Scarbee Rhodes, 3 Kontakt Scarbee Wurli, channels 3, 4, and 5 VB3, 6 Pro 53, etc. I set all of the mixer channels to midi channel one. The mixer channels I do not want to hear I bypass. So to play Ivory, I have mixer channel 1 on and all the others bypassed. I save that configuration to multi snapshot PATCH 1 (Ivory). If I want to hear a Rhodes, I unbypass that mixer channel (2) and bypass the others. I have saved that configuration to PATCH 2. All of the various configurations (which channels are bypassed and which are on) are saved as patches and are instantly recallable by midi program changes.

You can call up your multi from Receptor using the push for channel button - turn to left and it should say Bank: xxxx, turn the knob below to select the bank. Then within the Bank select a patch - push the button in to select and the multi will load. From there, use the lower knob (push to apply) to select patches.

I hope I'm not confusing things even more, but the thing to keep in mind is that there are Banks and Patches are within the Banks. I hopes this helps. I know I had to reread the snapshot section of the manual several times, but it really is a very cool feature when you get it working. Good luck.

This would be easier to talk you through than type you through.
