Interesting... and sounds incredible.

I have a Tech 21 Liverpool, which I love (playing a strat through it into an Ampeg Jet 12R right now, actually) and a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic that I've yet to really put through the paces. The Ethos takes it to another level.

I've heard amazing things about these:

http://www.siegmundguitars.com/pedal.html

like the Duncan Twin Tube it uses military grade micro tubes like a power amp inside to get the tone.

These things all do make an okay amp sound like a stellar amp.

Considering what I spent on a Hotcake, a great Lizard Leg transparent clean boost and the Liverpool together the price for the Ethos is not as high as some will think considering all it does.

The "eventual purchase" list just got longer (and rearranged).

That does sound sweet! Very cool, and a truckload of controls and versatility. Hmmmnn! cool

I bet putting a Foxrox Octron in front of that would sound beautiful! Or, a good wah.

Does yZe know about this? I think it'd be right up his boulevard!

You should try those together- the SD Twin Tube feeding the T21 Liverpool...

I`ve been considering one of those Seigmund overdrives for quite some time-the amps look really cool too. But those microtubes give me pause-how do you replace them?

the microtubes supposedly will last as long as the metal encasing the pedal or a human who buys it...

They were made to be put in military applications and last for years... decades... you can have a "qualified technician" change them if need be. The Seymour units have them soldered in and they don't want consumers going in anywhere near them. Don't know about the Siegmund, but I'm sure you ship it back to him if they need to be replaced.

I should... I only tested the SD twin tube through the little Ampeg that sits in the living room and needs an upgrade to a higher wattage speaker, and it was kind of too much for the underpowered speaker. The gigging amps are out in the room in the backyard and I haven't been in the mood to go out there lately. I'll try that when the in-laws are here for Thanksgiving and I'm sure I get inspired after a few hours to just have to go work on something important out there alone.

Meaning there`s a good chance they`ll last longer than the company. That`s what gives me pause.

I have a Duncan Twin Tube Classic, a very nice pedal but I can't get the sounds out of it coming from the pedal I started this post with. I already had Duncan replace those Military tubes one time, they are not indestructible, I can attest to that. Cudos to Duncan they did it for free, not a single problem getting that done. They even paid for the shipping back to me.

If I can sell some of my guitars, I will try one of those Ethos pedals. Time to lighten up on equipment since my wrist problems have stopped my daily practice cold in it's tracks. I do still enjoy playing a bit though and would love to have that kind of tone to play my way out.

Doing this now, and it's pretty good... adds a little something to both pedals... or a lot of something, and definitely makes the little Ampeg sound much more lively and musical. The in-laws are crashed out so I can't really it up, but I've instigated a Thanksgiving Eve jam at a local venue so I'll rearrange my pedal board and plug it into whatever amps they have sitting around (a Crate and a Peavey Classic 50 that's seen better days, from what I remember). I'll see if/how the Hotcake abd OCD and Flying Dragon get along with the two of them... I'm not afraid to layer overdrives. Tastefully, of course...
