Probably not; the thing is, there have been some shady wood suppliers that were either dishonest, incautious about where they got their stock, or both; PRS went through a lot of this not too long ago, as well, getting searched and having some of their wood and even guitars being impounded for a while.

Wonder who dropped the dime on 'em? Maybe a little payback from PRS for the copyright infringement lawsuit...

We may see the industry shift to a more sustainable wood.....like ipe?

Probably just police follow-up on the list of customers of parties that were selling already illegally obtained wood. Gibson, like PRS, was probably deceived by the shady vendor.

Just have to use composites from now on....

One of the people I spoke to at TMIF is a wood importer, lisenced by the Brazilian government. The company uses sustainable wood only-they showed me a photo of a house that was built partly of rosewood. Some of it was 300 years old. It is still possible to
get limited quantities of the good stuff but not by destroying the forests. Actually I told the company person I`d let the forum know about their work, the link will be forthcoming (along with others) once I have photos loaded.

Interesting.... I heard the news this morning. Oddly enough, the high rated local Nashville morning drive jock's long time newsman couldn't say Henry's name. He called him "yuh-shevitz". (For those who are unaware, his name is "Jus-ki-witz", spelled Juszkiewicz.

Henry is a weird guy but I think his buyers were duped into believing this came from other sources than virgin cut trees.

Maybe- but it's very likely not so much "caught" as "unknowingly duped by a crooked wood-seller".
