Hey all: Like I need yet another Hammond in my life, another situation presented itself to me and I couldn't say no. This "victim" is a 1940 Hammond Model D (which is identical to a BC in a church cabinet) and it has an original Leslie 31H (tall boy). Both the Hammond and Leslie look terrible and the organ case is really, REALLY bad, but despite how she looks, she SCREAMS and sounds great!! The 31H looks equally bad, but electronically and mechanically she's pretty sound (except I think the Jensen field coil 15" below needs a recone). Anyway, I fear the cabinet may be beyond a full restore, so some other refinishing or maybe a chop or other cabinet may be in it's future (along with Trek II percussion). I'll have some better photos when she gets moved into the work area on Sunday, as these were taken by the seller in the garage where she's been living for a while. Oh, the best part!! $400 for the pair!!

I've never seen that tall Leslie before. I would imagine the bass response is better than than the typical Leslie ... ?

Dave, the 31H was the quintessential jazz leslie (single speed) until the 122 came out and became the top dog. It does have some pretty amazing low end, especially with that Jensen Field Coil speaker. There's something about those speakers that just have something special in a vintage leslie cabinet.

Kev you know firsthand I suck. That was a '68. It had been customized. I'd never seen a cabinet like this one either. I've got a photo of that somewhere. If I run across it, I'll post it sometime. When I got it, it was missing everything underneath. Just on 4 legs. I built a crossbar piece and found an expression pedal, mounted that, and found the linkage and got that goin'. It also just have a female 1/4" on the underside for audio out. This things was like plugged into a marshall stack with a morley pedal or something. Rock'n roll organ for sure. Once I got the Leslie (122) for it, it sounded great. Someone had cut through all the cables for the pedals, too. I had a set of pedals, but on this one there was no place to set them and plug them in and the wiring shot. When I moved to this house, the studio was on the second floor and I knew this B3's cabinet was too ugly for my wife's living room. The back was ply wood and the top something else. Had to cut it loose. I'll get another one someday.
