Dammit.

I have a big data center move happening for one of my day job customers, and we just finalized the timeline. Two weekends in a row we will be all-hands-on-deck, moving servers and such.

And the weekends are...the 2nd and 3rd weekends of January. So even if the damn thing slips a week, I'll STILL be tied up with work on NAMM week.

I've really come to look forward to seeing my KC brothers at NAMM. And Audrey was going to go with me this year too. <sigh>

Well, 2011 I guess.

There has to be a way AROUND this. Say you've been planning this vacation with your wife for a long time. Say you'll work other days. Or just quit. But you can't miss the hangs! Think of Joey D and George Benson! Think of Marino coming all the way from Italy just to see you. What if the guest of honor this year is Herbie Hancock? You can't afford to not be there.

Eh, you gotta do what you gotta do. We'll miss you.

Never liked Ca NAMM anyway, it was all a bunch of big promised and vaporware. I LOVED Nashville NAMM then they started to piss around with that and I stopped going. Honestly, I miss the people and the off-campus events held in Nashville by AES and others more than NAMM itself. And also the chance to run around Nashville and visit folks and places that I don't get to see very often anymore. But I really do miss the people.

Yeah, well I'm actually a co-founder of my company so quitting is probably a bad idea. Being a co-founder gives me a lot of freedom in many ways. But in other ways it's a ball and chain.

It's a great day job, though, so I've really got no reason to complain. Don't get me wrong -- I still complain. I just have no reason to.

I will definitely miss you guys. Say hi to Herbie from me. <sigh>
