The holiday issue of GP turned up this week, and since boys will be boys, I turned immediately to the USPS Statement of Ownership, Management, and Circulation on page 103.

The numbers listed there are a tad strange. It turns out our gracious hosts print about 177 thousand copies each month, of which 86 thousand are sent to subscribers, 26 thousand are sold through retail outlets, and a few thousand are given away. That leaves a good 60 thousand copies (!) that go nowhere and are, one presumes, available free to a good home, like untimely puppies.

I could give a free one a home! smile

I wonder if they include issues going to institutions (hospitals, libraries, etc.)- if there are any- as freebies, subscriptions, or among that 60K?

Or are the #'s just off?

Perhaps they're held for back issue purchases ?

How about......hold for it....... complimentary copies for recording studio's or any music media places or the like. We recently shot at the Biltmore Hotel and all the rooms had complimentary copies of Los Angeles magazine in them. That mag is around $5.00 or more at the newsstand.

Back issue purposes is a good answer.

Just a thought.

send a letter to the editor and ask "what's up" might make a good story or some good press if they donate some to hospitals, troops overseas, schools, dentists, doctors, whatever and yes, keep some for future sales/requests for back issues...

How about free copies for dentist's offices and the like?
I know some libraries carry GP.
