Well I played with the S-90 XS last night. The first thing I noticed is how long it is, especially with the XK-3C on top. They guys in the band said it looked like I had a biplane on stage!! It mentally screws with you because even thought the keyboard is five inches longer I thought I had 20 more keys to play. I was using mostly the Natural s6 Grand, full grand piano, and the one that seemed the best was Monaural Grand S6. For whatever reason it reminded me of the S-90. It was hard to get used and I know it is just getting used to a new instrument but I got a lot of compliments on the sound.

The action did feel like the S-80 I had. I remember someone mentioning it. And the guys were giving me shit about the length of the case because it looks like a coffin!

Outkaster,
For me, the first few gigs with new a keyboard usually are a bit out of my normal confort zone. I hope you'll really enjoy the new board
and look forward to hearing your thoughts about after the "new" wears off and you've adjusted to it. I'm thinking that the S90 XS just might be my next keyboard.
Don

Don't get me wrong but I love it but it is a period of adjustment.

I had my first gig Friday with the S70xs, and had a great time with it. Having just switched over from the S80, I found the action identical, so no period of adjustment for me.
The end of the night was when I noticed the biggest difference, the 10lb weight loss.
Great machine.

Yep, sold the S80 4 days later. I ended up getting a soft case to carry it, and although it's manageable, I would have prefered a soft case with wheels, which the store had, but because of the S70's weird shape, it didn't quite fit.
I miss the low C&D, but not the weight.

Just some generic thing that has the store's logo on it. I think it was $60?

I don't think you'll be disappointed.
My soft case has a tag on it that says "Levy's" for what it's worth.

I was at a shop today..finally got to try one of these..the 70...they wanted me to do some things for the usb drive stik, so I did an accoustic mess n a rhodes thingy w/rythym..

At 1st I didnt care for the feel, but the more I played it, the better I felt w/it..they recorded on the usb, so thats a different feature...all in all its a pretty nice, well thought out board..

Well I got the S70 XS today and it sounds and feels great. Just a bit heavier than I thought. Looking forward to gigging with it on the weekend....

Cheers

The S70 XS sounded and felt great. (A little heavier than expected) Coming from using the ES7 in my live rig I did struggle a bit with the location of the buttons and the general operating system layout. Seemed there were a couple extra steps navigating around. Guess it will take a little time for me to get familiar and use to it. The smaller display makes it difficult for viewing. (us older guys appreciate the larger screens).

Needed to tweak many of the patches, mainly in the effects area. But overall a great replacement for an aging ES7.....

Cheers
Matt

KeyMoe, some cheapy Levy's softcase, but it does the job.
The S70 is quite high in profile, so it wouldn't fit in a standard 76 key softcase with wheels.
