Just looking for observations and opinions on the differences (besides weight) between neodymium and conventional speakers and cabinets.

I've switched to neodymium speakers. They sound great to me and the weight difference makes it a no-brainer decision.

I've used every kind of speaker possible over the past 40 years or so. My favorites were JBL D-140.
Of course they don't make them anymore and by today's standards, they don't handle enough power.

I currently own a 4x10 cab with neo speakers in it and besides weight I can't tell much difference between them and conventional speakers.

I think they make a world of sense in bigger cabs -- not so much in smaller ones for the added cost.

Neos will cut 15-20 pounds off the weight of a 4x10, which moves it from needing two people to haul it around to one. In a 2x10, you only save 7-10 pounds on a cab that you can probably already handle by yourself.

Neo. The sound difference isn't noticeable and I can take my rig on the bus!

Ok, the gratuitous photo op again!

Mwahahaha!

The weight difference is nice. Everyone says they sound as good and I think they are less expensive to manufature. Could we see them in the near future as the only speakers available?

+1. I use EBS amps and speakers and have a 410 cabinet with normal speakers. I have AB tested this cab with one loaded with Neo's and I couldn't tell the difference. The lower weight is a huge benefit in my opinion - my back certainly thinks so!
