Hi Ethan and all

I intend to do some bass trapping for my drum room which is at basement 19'x18'x8'with concrete wall and ceiling 6" thick. My drum will be placed beside keyboard along one side of the wall which has a beam 12" down running 4ft in front across of this wall.

For the walls i will be putting 10nos boardband bass trap 2'x7'as ethan suggest rather than membrane type as the room is still consider small. Correct?

For ceiling at the drum area i intend is to built broadband bass trap in the ceiling leaving 6"airgap-6" 705fibreglass flat flush to the beam. The rest of the ceiling at 8ft will be attach with 6nos 2'x7'x5".bass trap that is space out with some exposed ceiling.

i will like to know if the ceiling above my drum and keyboard adsorb too much mid and high? is there a better way to design this area?

Lastly, i will like to thank Ethan for directly me to this wonderful site.

* Yes, broadband bass trapping is the best way to go.

* The ceiling over your drums should be 100 percent absorbent. The main issue is you don't want "early" reflections getting into the drum overhead microphones. This matters much less over a keyboard, but you probably won't go wrong making the entire ceiling absorbent.

A cloud prevents reflections from the ceiling from causing comb filtering. But "phasing issues" on drums can also occur due to using multiple microphones. If you solo each overhead mic, do you still hear the phasing? If you hear that only when more than one microphone is playing, that's not due to ceiling reflections. Also, ceiling clouds should be totally absorbent at mid and high frequencies. FRK paper or plastic etc should not be used there.
