Hello all, It has been a while since I have been able to work much on my studio but I am back.

I have a small room roughly 11 X 14 with an irregular ceiling (attic space) and wanted to store all or most of my guitar and bass cabs in there so I wouldn't be moving them in and out frequently. What effect will these have on room acoustics? Will they contribute to damping reflected sound and low frequency waves or will they just add to the problems of sound wave reflections?

Thanks, Rw

Unconnected speaker cabinets might give a little bass trapping, though they might add some ringing. Hard to say for sure. The only way to know is to measure the room with and without them.

Thanks Ethan. The room is much taller on one side than the other due to the ceiling being the bottom of the roof. My workstation faces the tall side and my plan is to set the speakers behind me along the short wall(2 Marshall half stacks, 2 sunn folded horns, a Mesa Boogie combo, and two sgl 15" bass cabinets). I am positioned such that the reflections from the rear will almost certainly come from the floor which is oak hardwood covered with a large rug. I have most materials for some bass traps for the side walls, two for the ceiling, 4 along the front wall behind my work space, and a partition that I can easily move to help isolate any noise generated by my PC.

Thanks Again,
Randal
