My question is if you build the Deep Bass Traps into the corners of a screen wall can you cover the front plywood with 1" fiberboard (704) covered in Interlace fabic, or do you needed to cut the fiberboard like we do for speakers.
Thanks

The wood panels for the bass traps shown in my Build a Better Bass Trap article must be free to vibrate. So you can't put any sort of insulation in front touching the wood. I put absorbers in front of those bass traps in my studio, at the reflection points, but I was careful to space the fiberglass 1/4 inch off the wood as shown in the photos below.

Ethan,

Thanks for your help, So if I use 2X6's for the front wall and recess the wood fronts of the bass traps about 1" back from
the face of the 2x6 and then cover the entire wall with 1" fabic covered accoustial panels that will work?

Last question, Let's say for example your installing 36" by 72" by 1" thick accoustials panels (Highs and Mids) onto 1/2" drywall. Will it improve their performance if you cut out lets say a 24" by 60" hole behind them to give a 3.5" gap to the drywall on the other side of the stud. If so should you use more raw accoustial board behind it on the back side drywall or just leave a air gap or plain insulation.

Thank you again for your advice

Greg

Yes.

Sure, or just mount the panels with an air space.

The more insulation the better.
