I am wanting to record my bass playing but am lost as to what microphone to use. With some many options it gets kind of confusing. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks

A good quality DI such as Radial, or an Avalon U5 would be my first choice, into a nice GML or Neve preamp, if you have deep pockets.

A standard choice would be something like a Sennheiser 421 or 441.

You might consider a Direct Box. Radial, BSS, Country Man, and others make nice choices.

Taking a DI right off the bass offers the most options. Should you wish an amp tone in mixing, you can use a reamp box and dial in exactly the right tone for the tune being mixed, and vary the tone song by song with different amps, micing techniques, etc. The options are limitless.
