Being in a band isn't necessarily a seasonal thing.

Sure, summertime usually seems to have the most live shows (as well as around the holidays, of course) for gigging bands. However, depending on what kind of band you're in, Fall and Spring can be your best time to do things like write new music, or record demos/albums.

Another thing that's good to do when gigs slow down a bit: tweak your sound system! This is something you don't want to be doing the morning of a big show, for all the obvious reasons. But if your band is on a short hiatus from gigs, it's a great time to go in and make sure your stuff is functioning at its best, or to swap out gear for better options.

What's your band's plans this Fall?

Fall is actually the busiest time of the year for the clubs. Around here, summer is slow because a lot of people go to Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend. We play every weekend year round, so it's not like we have time off, but the crowds are biggest Oct-Dec for sure. The only thing we get more of in the summer is festival gigs.

See? There are probably many regional differences in when bands are busy... or not.

In any case, for those that are on some downtime (planned or otherwise), there are always things you can be doing to improve your band.

Hopefully soon our CD will be mixed and mastered and ready to fly off the shelves (okay, really out of a briefcase) soon! We have quite a few gigs already booked through the end of the year and seem to be picking up a couple here and there. With some luck we can pick up enough to make up for the ones that got cancelled frown

Good deal!

On a personal basis, my album is also done being recorded, and we're just three mixes out from sending it off to mastering, and then on to iTunes (etc.) and to the replicator for some CDs. Pretty exciting! I'm looking at a November release, just in time to sell a ton for the holidays! Well, a "ton" being, like, 6. grin
