I have just read the wonderful news that Jason Becker is to receive an award from Guitar Player magazine. He so deserves this accolade and it made me think that another guitar hero has been almost completely ignored by GP, namely Steve Hunter.
He has contributed to so many great albums, from Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper and the un credited studio solo on Aerosmiths 'Train Kept A Rollin'! Never a player to blow his own trumpet, he has quietly played through 40 years of great music as a session player. Now nearly blind he is still playing, some say better than ever. With two new solo cd's out and an Emmy nomination this year for music he donated to the Christ Child House charity video I think it is about time GP looked at this unsung hero of rock. wave
