This 5 string bass is a hand built prototype for Conklin's popular Groove Tools line of basses. It has no serial number because it is a prototype. It was built for bass legend Bill (Buddha) Dickens.
This bass features a Swamp Ash back and 1/4" figured Maple top with a wine red cellophane finish. The 34" scale neck is constructed of Wenge and Purpleheart with a 24 fret Purpleheart fingerboard and Conklin's exclusive Off-Sides position markers. It also features a locking output jack so your bass won't come unplugged accidentally. The active electronics feature a treble and bass control as well as volume and pickup fader controls.
I got the bass from Bill Dicken 10 years ago and it has been used sporatically in my recording studio. The bass is still in great shape. The finish is almost flawless except for a scuff on the back. (I tried to get a picture of it, but my camera isn't very good. It's in the circle in the picture) I am getting rid of some of the instruments I have sitting around so that other people can enjoy them.
