I like the "I won". In the old days that meant you won a prize and you will get something for free.

Now it means you bought something on eBay.

Maybe you should see what it sounds like before you buy the other one.

I like these Red Star guys. They are a small independent manufacturer just a couple states away. I think I may be one of the first on the bandwagon.
At the very least I'll get a set of kick ass boutique cabs for what I would have paid for one 410 from a name brand company.

A quick look at the site. I'll bet they sound great. But damn they're heavy.

moot, what makes you say they're kick ass boutique cabs? You haven't heard them yet. I can give you a list of other upstart companies making half decent cabs for good prices "under the radar" of the industry that "haven't been discovered yet" (just like every band I've played in). I'm not saying they're not good cabs but rather to withold judgement until you get to try it.

Those are pretty pricey cabs on the website.

Those things are built like a T-34... and about as heavy.

They are heavy beasts to be sure. I'm only moving it once - at least for awhile. The one at band #2s studio is just as heavy and saw better years in the 90's. In short, it's a boomy piece of crap that needs some gasoline and a match.

But I like the specs on the 212 also and figured I may as well have the set.

I got a call from Mike at Red Star yesterday. He just wanted to thank me for having an interest and tell me my cab had shipped, but we ended up talking about what they do and how they came to the current design. Very interesting and nice guy.
He also told me that if I am not happy for any reason they will pay for the cab to be shipped back to them. I must admit, I am excited all over again.

Always great to deal with companies that can provide good customer service.

I thought you got the cab off of eBay...sound like it's coming straight from the factory. So you're getting a brand new cab from the company for a fraction of the advertised price? That's always a good feeling.

Are they Maoist? What's with the name?

I got the cab off of ebay for less than a 3rd of what they want on their site - it was a pre-production model they used for final inspection. Same with the 2-12. Might be a nice way of saying something else but with the guarantee? No worries.


Worse - they're from Texas.

Technically, we're transplants, so we're not really *from* Texas. But there are definitely worse places to be...
