My favorite "old school" sounds:
1. Gibson semi-hollowbody w/P-90s with Fender tube amp(pre-silver face). No reverb.
2. Fender Tele with old Champ or Princeton amp....no reverb.
3. Strat with old Gibson amp...with old Fender tube reverb.
No distortion pedals, just crank the amp!
NOTE to Candace Horgan: Eddie "Cleanhead" VINSON not Vincent.

Hell, yeah! thu rawk I LOVE the tone and feel of a cranked NON-reverb Fender blond/brownface/blackface type amp. A Les Paul or 335 with either P-90s or humbuckers, going into a "brownface" Fender Deluxe Amp NON-reverb can also be very sweet! cool

I haven't had much time with many Gibson amps, but that sounds like a recipe for great tone!
