So I played a few sets of music at this block party the other day and my fiance got this footage of the sound check warm up jam. Just some improv stuff to get loosened up.

Sounds good.
I bet my brother could hear your bass from his house. (He only lives two miles away, up SE Foster towards SE Powell). smile

Nice jam... amazingly good sound from a video camera, too. Everything is nice and clear.

What's even more impressive is that the drummer is only using a 4-piece kit. I love when drummers go minimal like that.

Very nice. Both the playing and the recording.

What is hanging off your bass?

It is a piece of my favorite shirt that fell apart years ago. I have a strip of it tied to the headstock of my 5 string and my 6 string.

Methinks that qualifies as a 2-piece kit.

OTOH they could have played with Neil Peart and not had room for themselves on the porch. But there would have been a great ten-minute percussion exploration.

That was nice.

Ithinks it is a two piece too.

I never remember how that works. There's 4 things to hit and bang on so I think of it as a 4 piece. Officially a 2 piece. I stand corrected.

What's the camera make & model your fiancee used to take that clip? I don't care about the pixels count or the optics, audio capabilities is enough for me smile

Very nice!

It is a Kodak EasyShare M753 digital still camera. It is really nothing special at all. I think it sounds so good because she was standing at a good distance away. Not too close, not too far.

I think it helped that she was directly in front of the porch and the mix was just right, too... good job. One of the best video cam mixes I've heard... also helps that the musicians didn't suck...

Nice jam. I didn't see any mic stands. Who sings in the band?

We are purely instrumental. Not really even a band, only the second time playing with that drummer. Just a little trio we put together to play one gig in February and figured we would get together for the party.
