Since you'll be covering the current generation of DAWs next issue, I was wondering if you might give Reaper a good going over. For a long time I've been curious what the Keyboard team would make of it.

Hi Nathan,

I think you're thinking of EQ magazine. They're indeed doing a big DAW roundup, so I'll suggest it to them. Best,

SF

There was a little blurb on the bottom of pg.28 (May 2009) "What about the DAWs?" saying that next month's new gear section was going to be devoted to new developments in recording software.

Hi Nathan,

Yeah, and "New Gear" is always just first looks and a few bullet points about products. I'm pondering a DAW roundup that will be worthy of the KB name. It's a biiiig project, to be sure, and there are a lot of big left-of-decimal updates out: Live 8, Pro Tools 8, DP6 (which we reviewed in this January's issue, but that wouldn't preclude it from being in the roundup), Cubase 5, Propellerhead's new Record app, the new EnergyXT retail boxed edition, and of course, Reaper, the Windows version of which Open Labs is bundling into their NeKo PC-keyboard hybrids.

Okay, now I'm excited. Stay tuned...
