Man, I've seen enough of Cutler to think he's well on his way to being a big time, super productive QB. As for folding in games, saw that a few times this year, but he's a third year QB playing opposite a completely porous D...untill all their free agent signings of the last two days.

McDaniel's getting off the wrong foot with franchise QB.

Food for thought: what Belicheck-staff coach has gone on to head coaching success anywhere? Name one? Charlie...uh, wait...Romeo...hold on! let me...Mangi...no, wait it'll come to me. Congratulations, Denver. You coulda had Jason Garrett...

I was a bit shocked at the $$$ that old Dan spend on Haynesworth too. But if you think about it, a GREAT defensive player like what Lawrence Taylor was, or Ray Lewis use to be, can make a big difference in the outcome of a game. Trouble is, seldom do game changing defensive players have longevity to go along with their ability. Time will tell if Haynesworth is worth the money. No pun intended.

Skins cut Jason Taylor. Probably to make room for Haynesworth.

Yeah, they claim Taylor didn't want to restructure his contract to include off-season OTAs.

If he has something left in the tank, it would have helped the Skins but I really didn't expect him to stick around another season. cool

Wow ProfD, and just yesterday I was saying how much he'd benefit from Big Al soaking up all the blockers, which would have given him some longevity as well as production. Oh Well, it's the NFL.

Oh, and Mags, you're not wrong about Cutler. I think he will be big time someday. I'm more critical of him(and Romo) because he sometimes gets that halo put on his head by some media etc. What happened in Denver is just the current state of NFL. No one gives QB's time to develop anymore. You have to be Big Ben or Matt Ryan out the box, or your made to seem expendable by fans and cap conscious owners and GM's. My thinking has always been it takes 5 years to become a bona fide starting QB. Anything up to that point is just peaks and valley's.

Yeah, I didn't think they'd put Plax out there like that. Especially after that reality bite in the playoffs. Many teams would be all to happy to have him.

Wanted to briefly mention those NFL players and friend who have vanished at sea. Those guys all seem to be pro/college football players, so I'd hoped for all of them surviving due athletic conditioning. Now, well.. I can't imagine a fate like that, and what there families are going thru, and my prayers go out to them.
I know certain family members mentioned them being avid fishermen. I'm very curious as to why anyone would go deep sea fishing in a 20 ft boat....39 miles off the coast? My deep sea experience is limited, but that's an awfully small boat to be that far off the coast. I'm assuming they were a lot closer in and the boat drifted over the 2 days to that local where the coast guard spotted the boat and survivor. In any event, condolences go out to them.

Definitely. One of those tragic accidents.

I knew Kurt Warner's visit with the 49ers was a ploy to get the Bidwell's tight fingers off the purse strings. laugh

I'm not surprised Edge wants out of AZ. While he and Hightower make a good combo, his enthusiasm left after being benched and having to share the load. cool

That boat was never intended to be on the ocean. It's a lake skipper. Stupid move on their part, but still, they didn't deserve to die over it, and what happened sucks.

It's a sad tragedy no matter who was involved. My condolences to those who've lost loved ones.

Cowboys Cut Terrell Owens

Edit: The story had just broken when I first posted this, and there was no real link yet; so I just linked it to ESPN's front page, which had the headline up with no story. Now that they've had the chance to write the story, here's the real link:

Sources: Cowboys cut T.O.

Best,

Geoff

I'm hoping cutting TO does for the Cowboys what Sterling Sharpe's retirement did for GB.

I read the article about them when they turned up missing. Their trip out that far from shore was by design. Apparently, there was an sunken wreck almost 50 miles out and it harbored a lot of fish. They were after great fishing, but were doing it in a boat that was way too small for the ocean. It might have been OK in calm waters, but not when the sea got high. A small boat like that will capsize easily when the sea is pushing 6 foot waves.

Its still a real shame, no matter how it happened. Young people that really haven't had much of a chance to enjoy their lives, or live to a ripe old age. frown

I hope Redskin One (Dan Snyder's plane) is nowhere near TX or wherever TO happens to be chilling at the moment. rolleyes

While a WR with Owens' talent would help the team tremendously, the Skins have enough locker room distractions already. cool

We should have a TO pool. Everyone list the three teams they think where he might end up, in order of likelihood. I'll start.

Oakland, Chicago, and Oakland

Yeah, but Oakland needs cap space to sign Michael Vick.

How about New England? Moss and Owens? Batman and Robin? For a year? It would sell tickets.

No.

2007 the Pats had one of the most prolific offenses in history.

Why would we need to add another "superstar" WR, no matter what his mental condition, in 2009?

Well, at least Penn State's Men's BB team won last night, on a last second field goal by Taylor Battle. What an exciting game, at least for BB.

I sure as hell don't WANT him or anything, but will anyone in their right mind be surprised if TO is wearing silver and black this fall?

The other thing with TO is that he probably has the longest list of teams who've already gone on record saying they DON'T want him, for obvious reasons. So that limits the options.

Well the guy has has been the most productive WR in the last 3 years according to what I'm hearing on ESPN.

Problem is too many teams are doing the bad-blood purge, like Dallas his just done. Or the old-man purge like Tampa etc. Also according to Sean Payton, T.O. has had the 2nd highest total drops last year. It's going to be interesting.

Let's see, who can really use the offensive production while having a coach that's able to stand up to and squash his sideline tantrums?? Hmmmm....

Despite a teams claim, my (3) TO destination guesses would be Atlanta, Kansas City and Baltimore.

San Francisco would be interesting. While Singletary could handle it, TO's antics probably wouldn't surface on his watch. cool

Yeah profd you're right.. The SF ownership prolly wouldn't bite if he played for $25 a week.

It was just a half hearted guess. I can't muster up the ability to really care one way or another actually. I mean, as long as it isn't my Eagles(the sequel)that is.

That's because he throws a tantrum if they don't throw him the ball 15 times a game.

Easy to be a 1,000 yard guy when your QB forces it to you whether you're covered or not because he doesn't want to listen to you bitch after the play is over.
