To make a long story short, we're planning on having a tracking session at my studio today with Carlo, Steve LeBlanc, Zephonic, myself and possibly steadyb.

I have a feeling there may be some pics/sound files available in a day or so.

That will be a great session for sure! Tell Carlo to bring back some high quality file, it could be worth for him to have it...he knows that he has free access to my studio for whatever he needs to work on!

Well, we're going in with no plan at all, which is unusual for me...but given the eclectic assortment of gear and the chops of the visiting playas, I'm inclined to think it's not unlikely we'll get something useable out of this...

I have been doing similar ad hoc groupings of interesting players at my space FOR THE MUSIC ONLY

I don't mean this to sound morbid, but as I get older, I want to play, record, share, and save this great fun we have all been lucky to enjoy these many good years - ensemble music...

Man, that sounds like fun! It'll be great to hear the end result.

In all seriousness...Carlo and Zephonic wrote the tune, then Carlo laid down a scratch piano track so we could set up markers. Z laid down a bass track. I put down a rhythm loop. Steve played some rhythm guitar, then the boys agreed on a main melody and Carlo laid it down...after that, Carlo replaced the scratch piano track with an EP, then Z did a nice pad, Steve did a small harmony part for the melody in the second chorus...

...and then the soloing began.

We had fun for sure...

We were a bit under the gun time-wise - getting four musicians in a room with no plan other than that we had a few hours to come up with something and then record it was definitely challenging, but I think everyone was pleased with the results....
