nah, I woke up and started the demos - no warmups, just tone testin', not tryn' to demo my playin'

So....you get a little "tone bump" from the preamp pedal...

Sounds nice.

But is it different from anything else? I mean...is it worth the $150?

I have a couple of "non-boost" pedals, and they have a similar effect when the main FX portion of the pedal is off.

I recently got a Snarling Dogs Very-Tone pedal...which can apply some intersting EQ changes to your signal. It can make an HB guitar sound like a single coil...or vice-versa...and also do a bunch of other EQ things to the signal...
...but I found it can also give you just a nice "tone bump" with all the EQ options off. It's subtle...but, same kind of "fattening" effect.

It seems alot more dramatic when in the prescence of the amp rather than on the clips
