Wow, there are sure a lot of bitter musicians in Boston!

How many of them have a gig in New Hampshire tonight that they have to drive to?

Why did they list all their gear?

I notice that they have a Brice 5 string, so the bassist doesn't need to bring a bass. smile

They have three people and they want three more people for their cooperative venture. I wonder what they will do when the new people start making suggestions.

What is a rhythm guitarist, anyway? A guitarist who can't play lead? A guitarist who can play lead, but doesn't mind if someone else plays all the lead parts?

Where can you buy a rhythm guitar? I've never seen one for sale.
The stores I go to have lots of guitars for sale in various categories but no rhythm guitar departments.

Oh, yeah, lots of angst in Newton. (For those who don't know, Newton is a very affluent suburb of Boston; big, beautiful houses, well-manicured lawns, demographic is overwhelmingly college-educated and professional.)

A guy with a Les Paul who leaves the switch in one position.
On the other hand, no one ever tries to hire a Treble guitarist.

Back in the old days, way before your time, each band had a rhythm guitarist. If he could play lead he was not allowed to do so. He was strictly a chord player. rawk

They have to specify that they're looking for a guitarist with rhythm. Many guitarists that I've played with are a bit lacking in that department.

Man, what up in Beantown? Yeah, the Sox got beat, the Pats didn't make it with an 11-5 record, but crap, you got the Celtics.

I thought we had more than our fair share of flakes in Eastern Wash, but man, your flakes are way better than ours.

We just have the same sax player and the same metal band running the same ads over and over and over...

We have the same sort of thing here. It's mostly just rubbish but I have plenty of time to sift through all of it at work and find the goodies this month. Things are supposed to pick up in the new year.

That's when you already have one guitarist and are looking for another. "I'm the lead guitarist." It would be great if a new guitarist comes in and after playing the "rhythm guitarist" role a little while starts blowing him off the stage.

Or, it's a guy who simply doesn't want to play lead.

I guess you could say that I play rhythm keyboards. No solos for me on piano.

Our singer fills that role in my band. He doesn't play lead, nor does he seem interested in learning to.

I guess a rhythm guitarist is the ultimate gentleman:

A guitarist who can play lead but chooses not to.

Just like Jimmy Page in the Yardbirds when Jeff Beck was playing lead. Jimmy Page: a true gentleman.

This one isn't funny, it's quite serious. It's quite seriously calling out for JEREMY C.

All CL adds of interest are welcome!

I might change the pickguard, but I'd definitely find a use for the bass if somebody gave it to me! love

This one got several responses.

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/muc/976818436.html

I can't listen to streaming media at work but I can't wait to get home and check it out to see if it's as awful as I imagine it being.

Some "not so horrible" moments. I've heard a lot of people make a ton of money doing worse. I doubt there's much of a market for it theses daze. I'd say, get out there and play, for the love of it, but keep your day job because you won't be able to afford baked beans for long.

I saw that guy's post on TB. He's got it posted there too. He's upstate and on TB said he'd only drive an hour to meet somebody. Sweet cab though.

I might have joined that "band" 40 years ago and it would have been a mistake then.

Someone should tell him that Ramen is cheaper than baked beans and better for you.
