I would to see an issue that reviews the top of the best technical bassist and those bassist that aren't exactly the best technical but play teh right notes.

Anthony Jackson (a highly melodic AND tasteful 6 string pioneer) and Alex Webster (highly technical and brutal 5 string banger... fingerstyle all the way :)) were featured on the November 2008 issue.

I would say that's what they do every issue - and more!

Recent cover feature examples... Tal Wilkenfeld, Anthony Jackson, Chris Squire, Jonas Hellborg, that guy named Victor, that other guy named Marcus, so on so forth... frequent mentions of several others each month... BPM tends to focus more on good bassists that on bassists associated with Flavor Of The Month bands. I think they're already doing what you're asking for.
