I had a good one.

As most of you know, in lieu of being in a band anymore, I've been gigging as a solo singer/songwriter. It's kind of like a band, but I yell at myself if I show up late for a gig. \:D

So, over the last few months, I've done 27 shows, and I really can't complain about any of them. Right now my solo repertoire including originals and covers is up to 131 songs. I have dozens (hundreds?) more if I choose to do them, but those are the tunes I've chosen to do thus far.

And yes, if you were wondering; most of those shows were done in Second Life, without leaving the comfort of my own little studio here. But I'll tell you... I really like my fan base, and enjoy playing to new folks very often. As I get closer to completing my album, I'll be scheduling some more live (in person) shows, but as it stands, I imagine I'll be able to sell about 100 more albums than I would have without promoting myself in Second Life. So it's all working out.

In any case, my son's headed back to school next week, and I'm moving into a new place this week (50 feet south of my current place), so good things are happening. How was your summer? Any cool gigs? Do any recording? Have any fun?

Hmmmm....pretty good, I suppose. I didn't get QUITE as much done as I would have liked but, I did manage to release a CD that I have been threatening to do since March and I have been collaborating with a friend by internet some. I also spent a STUPID amount of money on 2 channel strips and a Neumann TLM 127 and some Waves Plugs and am going to buy a Mac Pro this weekend (I might as well do it now because I understand that Waves doesn't like to transfer authorizations between computers and I still use a G4). Getting ready for the rain here in Oregon.

My summer was fun. I joined a new band when I got back from Iraq (replaced 2 other keys players, but with a different twist, which went over well, phew!), and we played for youth groups and church worship services about 4 times a month. We have another tomorrow night. This will be my last since I am slotted to return to Iraq in early October. This time I will be a police academy instructor to the Iraqi police.

Back on topic. I did a little recording a few weeks ago, and have turned the scratch piano/vocal tracks over to the band to see what they come up with. It is exciting. This will be completed via internet. My laptop and controller are going with me again, and we can send files back and forth (thank goodness for compatible systems).

What's Second Life? Summer was uneventful, but all of a sudden my band has 4 shows booked for the end of the year. Four shows !! That's as many as we've done in 2006 and 2007 combined, and with the radio show we did in March it brings our total this year to 5.
We are stoked \:D

It's a 3-D virtual environment where live music can be performed, among other things.

Here, have a look.

Thanks but I'll pass. I'm having a hard enough time getting booked in real life, I don't think I could handle the additional rejections ;\)

Why did I think this forum disappeared? My summer sucked as far as gigs went. I am back with my old band....anyone remember that drama?

I did play 2 gigs with the other band to absolutely no one. My wife did come to the last gig I played with that band and she peed behind a dumpster. That was the highlight. It was actually very funny because let's just say she is not the type that would do that very often.

Well between two bands I gigged about 31 times so it was not bad.

Hi everyone, newbie to the forum...I'm an RGT electric guitar tutor based in France.

I released a mini album (Endless Night) on iTunes, Amazon etc this summer and apparently got a mention in guitar player mag, Brazil! Had no idea about this until yesterday, when someone mentioned it to me! I guess it must have been positive as I wondered where all these Brazillian people had appeared from on my myspace page shocked

Currently recording next album (in between teaching!)

After that shameless bit of self promotion, all I can say is:

Wonders will never cease, especially in the music biz!

Cheers

Jerry
