First rule of instrumental tracks - keep it interesting. Biggest problem with your piece: The riff doesn't change, it just moves around within a pseudo 12 bar framework. Next biggest problem, it's not that interesting a riff, and the bass and guitar mirror each other the whole time. Finally, the drum track has no variety to it.

Doesn't make for a very interesting instrumental. Sorry.

Well…it's nothing more than a backing/rhythm track...it needs more personality to be a song.

While I agree, it's just a very basic repletion that goes on for a very looooooooooong time...you can get away with it (a lot of trance/dance music does) IF you lay down some lead parts on top if it that can keep the listener interested.
As it is...it gets kinda boring after the first minute....but you got it going for another 5 minutes!

Try playing some lead melody over that...maybe even have two different leads that are not just mimicking each other but that go back and forth creating some point and counterpoint, maybe even use more than just guitars...and also consider adding lyrics/vocals.

One riff does not a song make, IMO.

A riff is one thing...a lead melody is another.

There are many way to work it...some will be better than others.

I'm just saying that I probably wouldn't be any more impressed with this piece if it had lead work, or vocals over it, even if there were interesting melodies - because it's still one riff being moved from I to IV to V.
