Well, you could approximate something like that with, say, a neck and body from Warmoth or another parts-maker; a Strat-style neck with a 25.5"-scale fretboard, bolted onto one of their more Gibson-style bodies, with your choice of hardware and electronics. It'd be a project, and it wouldn't be cheap, but it would be both an accomplishment and a guitar that's exactly, or nearly exactly, the way your friend wants it... That's one way to achieve that... Here's a link to Warmoth: Warmoth They're not the only maker of necks and bodies out there, not by a long shot; but their quality is spot-on in every respect, and they have the types of necks and bodies that you want for this, that will fit and work together without any modification.

In life, anything is possible, down to making a body to fit the neck, or vice versa.
But I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something ready made that had a Fender type neck. Yeah, good call; some searchin' and tryin' should turn up something that your friend might like. And, it'd be very helpful to determine exactly, very specifically what it is that he likes about a Fender-style neck and a Gibson-style body... Aaaah- just read your last post (above) and came back to edit this in: for starters, maybe he should try out a few Les Paul "Classic" models, they generally come with a "slim-taper 1960"-style Les Paul neck. I have one, and it's very sleek and slim whithout being too skinny or thin.

Maybe this body... ...plus this neck... ...of course, it wouldn't have to have a Fender Strat styled headstock shape, it could have a Gibson Explorer or V "arrow" shape, or just about anything else...

It all looks good, but this particular combo wouldn't work for the reason that the holes for the bridge & the stop tailpiece are already drilled - they would be in the wrong place. The 'Fender Scale' is 25.5", the Gibson scale is 24.75". This puts the bridge too near the Fender-style neck - won't intonate. Yes, it can be done, but you'd need to get an *undrilled* body, and measure off the correct spacing for the bridge holes, and hence the tailpiece. It will also put the pickups further away from the bridge and give a whole different set of tonal values. G.

G. actually the specs ( scale etc) can be changed when ordering. that is assuming the neck in question Caev posted isn't allready Gibby scale. Warmoth makes a fender style neck with a 24.75 inch scale. looks can be deceiving. it is the buyers choice.

Actually, the body and neck that I showed there are already ready already, already completely compatible, pre-drilled holes, 25-&-1/2" scale, 'n' all; the body's hardware holes 'n' routes are all located for a 25.5" scale, Fender Strat-ready bolt-on neck... Oddly, if you want to go with a Gibsony 24.75" scale neck/fretboard with that particular body from Warmoth, you have to use their (Warmoth's) conversion-neck, which will also convert a Strat or like guitar to 24.75"-scale-length, just by bolting it on, no further modification required... Unless you want to pay them for some extra custom work...

hey just asking can i for a fender neck on a gibson body? the reason is my friend really likes fender necks and gibson bodys and wanted to know if you can do that. Short answer... NO. Gibson guitar necks are glued in to the Gibson bodies. As far as I know you can't buy the body seperately. But as has been mentioned, Warmoth offers you viable solutions. But at a cost. My guess would be that your friend is not a very experienced player. This is the kind of tweaky modification generally persused by those with ether too little experience or too much money. From a practical standpoint, you would be building a frankenstien guitar that would have little value to anyone but the guy who ordered it built. (Meaning:no resale value.) That might not be important, and I would not generally suggest buying a guitar with resale value in mind.... but I would also generally suggest buying a quality instrument of a brand name, and leaving it unmodified. If you think about it, though there are many modifications out there to be had, much of the best and most classic rock and jazz music ever recorded was done so on stock instruments from Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, etc. Just something to consider... Bill

Hah! What timing... Check out CMDN's "My Melody Maker... Let Me Show You It"-thread, too...
I'm almost sorry that you aren't going to go ahead and put those Warmoth parts together (with a headstock-profile that goes nicely enough with the Gibson-esque body chosen)... It'd actually make a really nice guitar...
