johnchop
I've put GAS aside for the moment and am really digging into programming a few of my favorite virtual instruments. This week it's Omnisphere (1), and I'm having a blast. Just taking a single layer of a Virus soundsource, adjusting the sample start for faster attack and the timbre to bring out higher harmonics, and then applying unison--all very simple tweaks--and this MASSIVE sound comes out the other end. For folks rolling their own patches, are you finding that Omnisphere 2's new synthesis options--notably the new filters and modeled waveforms--make it a "must have" upgrade? I'm also wondering if the synth engine has seen any tweaks, like improved anti-aliasing. Synth sounds in the upper registers do tend to suffer from this, or seem to, especially compared to the squeaky-clean sonics I get out of Audjoo Helix. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts. -John I make software noises.
