When I was studying at the Conservatory, every piano student always tried to sneak into the classrooms during off hours, to practice on the Steinway grands (there were several, mainly Ds and Bs). Well, in one of the rooms there were TWO, but this wouldn't stop we brave adolescents to play on *each* of them. Yes, that's right: Two pianists, each practicing his/her own thing on two different grand pianos *both with lid open*, in the same room!

It was torture... every now and then, we took pity of each other and practiced a few scales in unison.... :freak:

Well, it was on topic with the title, wasn't it?

I usually hate two-piano performances... all those smeared attacks give me a slight sense of nausea.

With a few exceptions... the Herbie/Chick duos, and especially THIS one.

Not only *three* pianos, but overdubbed! And the result is magical.

Bill Evans, the piano magician.

I much prefer this album, even though it's 1 piano and 1 Rhodes.
