I just read that the judge threw out the case against Terry Howard…the alleged theft of some Ray Charles master tapes.
He is cleared of all charges.

A key witness testified that it was common and normal for Terry to have certain tapes in his possession, and that Ray Charles was always aware of it…and, that Ray Charles had an agreement with Terry Howard to do all the archiving and restoration of his tapes.

I wonder how someone recovers from this type of character hit?

Who did the accusing? I'd think that person would the one with the character hit.

It's actually been around for a while. After Ray died, some people on his family's side felt that he shoudln't have Ray's tapes at his studio. Obviously, when Ray died, the tapes were NOT Howard's and he should have contacted them about settling up.

But he didn't, and they used that to support their case that he had "stolen" them. Bad form on his side (the tapes are REALLY valuable) and bad form on their side (Ray knew the guy well and let him have the tapes knowingly, but not permanently.)
