I was thinking to buy a Millenia STT-1 but the price is very high for only one piece.

I found out now about a great discount price for the Amek - Channel in a box - 1000€.

What do you think of the AMEK unit:

Pre ?
EQ ?
Comp. ?

What would be your choice to send through this unit?

I was thinking to get me a pair of AMEK Channel in a box instead of one Millenia STT-1. Is this a good choice? I am selling my SPL Channel One now so the AMEK would be my main pre. I do most of the time heavy rock stuff or Hip hop.

It's a very good product. The only major issue I have is that, according to the Amek website, they're going to be discontinuing them "as of the end of the year", and I think that was as of LAST year, so they may already be officially discontinued. I don't know how that bodes for future support / parts availability, but it's something I would consider / look into before making the purchase decision.

Amek hasn't been available new for at least a year.

Purusha, if you mostly do heavy rock and hip hop, I think both the very clean Amek CIB and the transparent Millennia STT-1 would be poor choices.

Some much better choices would be API, Great River NV, Neve Portico, Phoenix Audio... What else do you have available where you are?

Hmmm, at home at my studio I don't have some other preamps at the moment exept the Joe Meek twin QCS which I don't think is good for vocals, but usually if I do some serious projects I end up mixing it in one highly professional local studio with all the real stuff like Manley and Tubetech outboard and other great boxes like fatso and distressor, local Pultec EQ and so on. If I mix there I usually send the vocal through all the best boxes and blend it with the original track.

Maybe in the future I can get one pre with more colour. But for now I think I will just grab one or two Amek CIB boxes. At least I'll get very nice EQ if nothing else for this money.
