Hi guys. I'm finishing up my garage mix room, and in my zeal to just "get er done" I found a great deal on Roxul "rock wool". 4 inch.

I bought 16 of these and found out very quickly that they were a PITA to work with compared to 703. I was going to return them but figured I'd jerry rig em up.

So, I bought 3/8 inch peg board as a backing, and glue/taped those ugly green suckers on, then wrapped them in black speaker cloth. They actually look pretty nice, and I do notice a big difference in my room . I'll be running ethans test tone cd tomorrow and will have a graph to reference.

question is: Does the peg board backing i used have a negative effect on the traps Ive got spanning the room corners, and the ceiling corners?

and, the room is 16x13x9 height, am i in danger of killing too many highs by having upwards of 20 unfaced 2x4 traps hanging in there? I've got an oak hard wood floor with throw rug, and haven't treated the ceiling yet. I plan on doing 703 4x4 clouds 3 inch thick, over mix position. Maybe even cobble up some kinda diffuser onto the cloud, and recess some lights as well.

Ghetto fabulous.

BTW Glen... thanks for all your help, I just couldn't make it happen $$$ , and had to go the DIY route for now....

If they're mounted on the wall flat, then the backing will be fine. If you're using them to straddle the corners, then it's killing the benefit of straddling the corner.
