I found a Canadian manufacturer called 'Roxul' who produces mineral wool semi rigid insulation. According to their retailer list, they have a local supplier, too. Before I contact them, I was wondering if someone with a little experience could check out their products, and let me know what I should be looking for so I don't look like a complete idiot when I go into the store. \:\) I'm kind of green at this.

Neil,

You want mineral wool that has a density of 6 to 8 pounds per cubic foot. At least 3 or 4 inches thick for bass trapping, and at least 2 inches thick for mid/high frequency absorption.

Thanks, Ethan. Looks like they have those densities available through Roxul. I went into the store, and the guy at the counter knew exactly what I was talking about. At some point he had installed leftover sheet mineral wool into his house to soundproof it. He said it made an unbeleivable difference. As soon as they get back to me with prices/availability, I'll post the information in the local suppliers thread. For a while there, I though I was out of luck because I live in the middle of nowhere

Roxul makes an excellent product. As Ethan said, their 6-8lb density material works very well for bass absorbtion.

For reflection control, they also have a 2.5lb and a 4lb produc that works very well and will save you a little money to boot.
