Hello:
In my HT I have several movie posters that are 2' x 3' with sheet plastic fronts hung on the side walls. They are spaced about 4' apart from each other and midway up the wall.

I appreciate any comments on what are they doing to the room acoustics.

Regards,

Richard

I doubt they're doing much one way or the other. You can determine this yourself easily enough. Walk up to a poster, stand six inches in front, and "talk into" it loudly saying "Testing, 1, 2, 3" etc. Now step to the side and do the same against the bare wall. Do you hear much diference?

Hello ethan:
Very interesting. I did as you suggested and there is no difference!

So, does this mean it's possible to hide a trap behind the poster?

richard

Likely not. If it was just he poster, you could put something behind it and make it work somewhat. The plastic on the front will likely prevent it from doing much of anything.

Yes for a bass trap. But as Bryan said, No for anything intended to absorb higher frequencies.

Hello: If I remove the plastic sheet and put OC 703 behind the picture will it work as a mid/hi range absorber?

No. The paper will reflect the mids and highs.
