4stringaxeman, There is no such animal as sound proofing foam - it doesn't work - and it doesn't exist - and any company that is advertising their material in that manner either doesn't have a clue or is deliberately misleading their clients.
Roofing foam is no exception -
by the way - whose roofing foam are you talking about? I know that the firestone foam made for roof insulation is combustible - so if you're speaking about a particular maufacturer whose product is not (I am not aware of any) then you should name that manufacturer to save people from spending trying to locate someone.
Sincerely,
Rod

UKTry this: Knauf Rocksilk The variant number indicates the approximate density in Kg/m3. RS100 is roughly equivalent to OC 705 in that respect. Easier to find than OC or Rockwool and available to order from most large builders merchants. (Somebody please let me know if it's unsuitable and I'll delete this post)

I've been trying to find Johns Manville Spin-Glas Board in Reno. Can't even find a price. Look at the specs for the 2" 8 pcf boards: 125 .38, 250 .93, 500 1.10, 1K 1.07, 2K 1.07, 4K 1.07, NRC 1.05. Much better than several other products.

Bayinsulation.com
They carry all the OC, Roxul, etc. AND the "weighted vinyl" soundproofing sheet that Auralex sells, which the rep described as "awesome". Great location, Garland off LBJ & NW Highway. Got 12 pcs. of 703 for $119, great price.
Please note that they are primarily a wholesaler & to-the-trade resource, but the sale manager said they'd welcome small orders - they do sell to the home theater construction industry and know the business. I'd suggest you respect that, and don't get too "consumery" when you call; could put an end to a good thing. Know what you want and don't quiz 'em too much - do your research here.
Their main warehouse is in Tyler, TX, so it can take a few days to get stuff in if not in stock; mine took 24 hrs.

Pacific Insulation 215 South 14th Street (Madison and 14th Street) (Madison is south of Jefferson) (Pacific is on the East side of 14th Street) 602-276-1361
I am working with Mike Loftus. The rigid is Johns Manville and specs identical to Owens.
I picked up a couple of 6lb, faced, 24x48 panels, and will use them to mock up my frames.
Good prices compared to online Owens.

In the uk I bought mineral fibre (100KG and 60KG) from acoustipro turned up the next day. I think it was knauff stuff - did the job nicely. Also they do fabric with a foam on the back which I used for my absorbers. Mark

Roxul RHT40 four inch board list out at better than 1.0 through the 125hz to 4khz frequencies. Is there any reason to use a thinner board that does not deliver in the low range? 320 square feet is $332.12 delivered.

I found the major sites on the web and emailed a request and received a list from each which I then went through until I found what it was that I was looking for. Roxul RHT40 4inch for 97cents American a square foot. What I am interested in is there any reason to use less that 4 inch? The four inch board delivers better than 1.0 125hz through 4khz. 320 square feet for $332.13 with tax delivered.
