Has anybody tried building wall deflector/diffusors out of Sonotube?

What diameter? Where did you buy it? How much $ ? How did you finish it?

I've never tried that specific brand of tube, but I have played around with curved surfaces. A curved surface does deflect sound better than a flat surface, but it's not really the same as a true diffuser like the QRD types.

I'd think that in a small room like you find most project studios, one foot diameter would be useful. Smaller than that the cavities that form between adjacent tubes will foster resonance, which is bad. And much larger you won't get enough effect. However I've seen very large curves used in large rooms.
