Hello Tom and Ethan

To save a little space(and $$$) I am thinking about cutting in half the corner traps. Instead of 24" wide I will use 12" across the corner and add more on the walls. Will I get close to the same results or should I stick to the 24"?
I am using 4" 705 in the corners and 2" 703 on the walls.

The main thing that matters for fiberglass corner traps is mass. If you cut in half the mass, you seriously degrade the effectiveness of the trap.

Furthermore, you are reducing the size of the airgap between the corner and the fiberglass. That can't help either.

Stick with the 2' design.

He's right. Another thing about bass trapping aside from mass and air space is coverage. Even with the same thickness and if you were somehow able to keep the same air gap, you're still leaving more wall exposed.

As Ethan has said many times, bass trapping is all about coverage. You can't build one UltraMegaSuperBassTrap2000 and have it in one corner of your room. You've got to have the coverage. Once your fiberglass or mineral wool is three to four inches thick, it's not about making it thicker, it's about making it cover more room corner.

I'm not saying it won't work if you make it smaller. It will, but just not nearly as well or to nearly as low a frequency range. And unfortunately, covering the walls just isn't the same for bass trapping. Another thing to consider is that rigid fiberglass doesn't just absorb bass, it absorbs most frequencies. So the more you treat your corners, the better the overall room sound. And the less you'll have to do to the walls.

Move some furniture, clean house a bit, make the room somehow. It's worth it! \:\)

What about going ahead with the half size in the vertical corners, but put full size up in the ceiling/wall corners (out of the way)?

Thanks Guys,
I will heed your advise and go with the 2' in the corners.

I could do this are the results the same? If not I will stick to the 2'across the corners.

I had a couple tough to cover corners in my studio because of doors and a closet so I did the 2' in those. The others are regular 2'x 4'. Part of the problem is wanting to retain a uniform, balanced look to the treatments. In the bass trapping area I don't thing it matters where you put them, just put them!
