Hey gang!

Depending whether you hang out on any of the other forums here, you may or may not know that some of us moderators here on Musicplayer are moving our forums to Harmony Central. And I'm one of them. HC will now host a new Band forum and I will be moderating. This will happen around the 20th or so.

I am REALLY excited about this because we stand to get a lot more participants there, AND I've always had a lot of ideas for forum resources that could really help us bands promote our gigs and careers in general... but resources have always been very tight here at MP and they won't be at HC. So I think I will finally be able to implement some of my ideas and do even more cool things for bands!

So stay tuned... I will let everybody know when the new forum is active and where you can go to check it out!

Great, Lee! I'll come visit you ... I don't hang at HC at all right now (but I have my trusty login -- I think I have one post over there), but I'll start checking around the 20th.

Moving sucks sometimes. I'm not into heavy lifting, but I'll bring the pizza! \:D

Might stir up some new added life. This is a great forum, but it's been slow for awhile.

Lee, that is great news for you, but HC forums are blocked here at work from me so I will not be able to follow you there at least during the day... Best of luck on the new venture! Boggs

Boggs and all,

Have you tried recently getting into HC from work? They say there used to be a problem with that, but since they changed servers it's been better.

If HC is included in any content blocking software at your work, you could PM me with the name of the company that makes the software (if you know which software your company uses). HC has managed to get themselves removed from a lot of major blocking software's block lists.

Hi Lee,

I am sorry to hear that we are losing the For The Band forum, but glad that you are excited about the new direction.

I'll try to get over to HC when I can. This was so convenient though to have a band forum in the same neighborhood! I utilize the HC Musicians Wanted board, when searching for players, but I've never been to their forums before. I didn't even realize they had forums.

You've been a fantastic Moderator, and I appreciate all the time and energy you've given this project.

And I'd also like to thank you for all of the info you have posted about the BOSE system. It was so great to have such an inside track. It is still at the top of my wish list of future equipment purchases.

Have fun, and I hope to see you at HC.

... connie z

I hope to see you too Connie! It was great meeting you in New Orleans, and I really do think you'll be pleased with the new forum.

EDS does a lot of the software used where I work and they are constantly looking for ways to firewall stuff.

HC is banned here too, I think we maintain our own list of sites tho, it must have picked up all the abuse I hear about when someone else accessed it =(

All do respect to all, but I distinctly remember folks SLAMMING HC, and now its our new best friend. What changed?
I personally have never thought it was all that bad, loved the amp and guitar reviews even if you do have to do a little weeding to find something useful. The thing is how the collective somehow thought themselves above HC but now fully embraces them. I just find it interesting is all.

Oh, and I didn't think much of the attitude of the posters at HC. We'll see what develops. This group is fun, and even when we don't agree on esoteric details, we have room for each other's positions.

I agree with Bill that Craig deciding to move there, and taking an active leadership role in the forums' future direction, is what convinced me it was worth a try. They are also under new ownership who seem committed to doing cool things with the forums. We didn't even know where SSS was going to end up when Craig told us he was moving, he just asked whether I, Dave, Phil and Gus would be interested in going wherever he goes IF there was an opportunity. And we all said yes with no questions asked. He shopped around and ended up deciding (among several offers) on HC. After talking with their new ownership I can see why Craig wanted to go there, they do indeed seem like cool folks and they're really listening, and communicating. That's always a good sign.

So, we'll see what happens, but so far it all seems very cool.
