I'm looking at this Alvarez AF6OCK and was wondering if any of you have played or owned an Alvarez before.
I've little experience with acoustics and prefer a thinline model that is closer to what I've been playing for years. It appears to have fairly sophisticated electronics with tuner (commonplace now I assume) and seems rather well constructed.

What ever you can offer on this manufacturer or their guitars would be appreciated.

I love Alvarezes. I've owned a few...and IMO they're one of the best bang-for-the-buck boxes around. My current acoustic 12 is an Alvarez Jumbo. I owned an Alvarez electric-acoustic a few years back (I think I bought it in Florida)...I sold it to buy my Guild. While I'm not sorry I have the Guild, I wouldn't mind having the Alvarez back. Before that I had a rare Yairi doubleneck 6-12 acoustic... I had an Alvarez before that as well. It was stolen in 1979.

Yeah; very cool guitars, especially for the wampum. Played an Alvarez-Yairi (cedar top, mahogany bod) for years, it hade something unique that made me not want to trade it for anything else...

I prefer Alvarez axes over Takamines anyday!

I just bought a Carvin and a Takamine. There was an Alvarez I really liked. It was $600. However, this Carvin Cobalt 780 is better, way better.

I did not realize Alvarez also makes higher end guitars. Like $2,000. I haven't played any, though.

Yeah, the ones handbuild by Japanese luthier Kazuo Yairi. Like I said, I had a Yairi doubleneck. I could kick myself in the ass for selling it. I've seen a couple on eBay...only rarely. They command a handsome sum. One of these days...one of these days...

I've got a Alvarez AD70S acoustic. (no pickup, though) I bought it used (perfect condition) for 285 €, (new 345 €) and I preferred it over all the other guitars in it's price-range. The guitars that I thought was as good as this cost over 600 €. (I even preferred it over some 1000 € guitars! )

It sounds great, but it's a bit hard to play. It came with 11's, but I put on 10's yesterday to try out the playability. It's much easier to play now, but it doesn't sound as good. I'll have to wait and see which strings I prefer.

I have good confidence for Alvarez, their guitars are well built, and thay sound very good for their price. Find a dealer near you that sells Alvarez, and chech 'em out!

I bought my Alvarez Dreadnaught Acoustic in......hmmmm....1976...yep that's it.

I can´t live without my Alvarez-Yairi, DY-78 from 1978. Now it has a pasive acoustic piezo and I use it with a compressor to increase the signal, believe me, it's the sound of Greek Gods making love with angels

I also own a Takamine EAN-10c active circuitry, but this one is 100 lightyears behind the Alvarez-Yairi.

I've played the exact one in your pic. Good feel, great sound. Didn't get a chance to plug it in though, but they are quality instruments.
