Okay.. I can appreciate that everyone has had a few bad days but this is about as bad a run as I've had in a while.
Tuesday: Michelle calls me to explain that the transmission had gone out of the Mazda.
Wednesday: Axle in the van goes, but is replaces quickly.
Thursday I need scaffolding for Friday morning to rebuild the chimney with a friend who's doing it as a favor. Can't find scaffolding anywhere near my place and might need to drive to the city to get some. Thursday night ... still nothing.
Friday: bump into neighbor (contractor) ask him if he has any and he does have 5 sections!
We get it set up tear down old chimney and I watch the deck I just sanded clean for repainting get pounded by bricks and mortar to the point where I need to do it again.
Torn down... farther than expected. Too many flue tiles cracked and we need 5.
None in the town I live in. Drive to next nearest town. Get them... while it starts to rain..
Back home, start to proceed but it's too wet and nothing will set up.
Next morning, my mason friend needs to get home (2 hour drive) he's not been home to his wife in 2 weeks and I understand this. It's still raining in the morning when he leaves.
Clears up hours after he heads home.
Neighbor comes down and say he need the scaffolding back to tomorrow!
I tell him I'll find him some if I have to rent it so I don't have to take this contraption down.
Can't find any. Drive to the city and rent it for him. Deliver it to his job site and unload it there by myself.
In doing this I had to get my fatherinlaw's truck from another town and drive down to Belleville where, after getting the scaffold and a coffee, I notice I've been driving around with no license plates on this truck.
I continue home as though nothing's the matter.
At home I take and old plate from my truck that was crushed by a tree and paint a little sticker on it for this current year. This will either pass or find me making license plates for a few months.
Sunday we finish and I clean everything up. normal day.. but my arms are killing me from hauling all that material up 30 feet in the air.
Monday... I take truck back after picking up renter scaffold and returning it to city and taking down neighbors's and returning it as well.
Pitch black and starting to rain, I'm at his garage and the car my wife is borrowing is locked up inside the shop with the hood open. (I had to return it when I picked up the truck because the tire went flat on her and none of the signals work)
I was going to drive that home!
I check my Mazda, no work done on it yet but it might make it home. Open door. Lights were left on and battery is dead! Go into the garage and find booster cables, I can boost it from the truck. Make it to the far end of the garage where the cables are hanging and.. the firking power goes off and the sky opens up and starts to pour.
Smack head and knees trying to exit garage but manage to boost the car.
Luckily for me the transmission is working just enough to drag me home.
There are several other things that could have screwed up but I guess I'll count myself lucky.
