First, I hope you solved your tuning woes. But I'd really like to know, was there loose-hardware, or was it the (Elixir) strings, or something entirely different at the heart of the matter?

I just read your post this morning, so I need to print it out, take it home and start at step number one.

I'll post again and let you know what the outcome is, once I get it figured out. I am suspecting the coating on the Elixers because I've never had this problem before. And trust me, the whammy was well abused for many, many years.
