does anyone know of a pedal/rack unit that i get a synth-like modulation filter effect from (without actually buying a synth!!!!). ie not a flanger, but a resonance filter... i think...

Try using a wah pedal without rocking. Just leave it on in one position.

The Electrix Filter Queen is supposed to be pretty rad.

Otherwise, Big Briar makes the Moogerfooger pedal and Electro-Harmonix makes the Micro-Synth pedal.

Rodger Linn's Adrenalinn is a great tool for advanced filtering. It is nothing short of amazing.

wow, the sherman filterbank looks pretty amazing and sounds like something i definitely be playing about with for years.
