Cool! Is it just simply to unhook the wires from the speaker in the combo and hook the speaker directly to a jack? Should I tape up the wires? Use proper workmanship and proper male / female jacks as necessary.

Thanks for all your help. I will learn and/or get help with the workmanship and proper jacks. You are quite welcome. With some of the questions you asked it sounds as if a little over the shoulder help would be a nice thing.

Hi Myles,
What is your current recommendation for Riverea Quiana combo tubes?
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for the super-fast reply. Can you please provide pre-amp tube recommendations as well?

- Dave Read my website. TOTALLY personal! Let me ask you ... what do you think I should have for dinner? Seriously ... I am not trying to me a wise ass, it is just that there are dozens if not hundreds of factors.

Myles,
I had been using GT 12AX7Ms in V1 and V2, but I know you don't recommend the new Fender versions. I liked the sound of those tubes in V1 and V2 (in both channels) and am wondering what might be a comprable replacement...
Thanks,
Dave

Good Morning Myles. I recently picked up a Piggy in a Box. The legendary nasty Pignose sound in a pedal. It's a 5 watt SS amp and a really nasty distortion pedal combined. I'm using it with a 10 inch, 8 ohm, Jensen cab and it's loud, nasty and fun. I'm told it's a 4 ohm amp. Does the same rule apply as with tubes? Higher speaker ohms are ok? I can't imagine it getting any louder! Thanks Anthony

Heeeey Myyyyyles...
Performance and tone wise, is there ANY reason NOT to replace the orange selenium-rectifier found in some vintage "tweed" Fender amps, with an appropriate diode?

Hi myles! Came to this board from your amp blueprinting page. I've read through your amp blueprinting document countless times as well! What I have is a '74 dual showman reverb, which doesn't have a bias adjust trimmer pot, and I intend to keep that way. Suppose I want output tubes to have a long life, and yet still run hot enough to sound good, I'd want tubes equivalent to a gt rating of 4-7 right? What do I specify to Steve Martin, since I'll be ordering some from AES? My fear is that after getting a nice matched quad winged c sed 6L6GCs, it will run cold and have some crossover distortion (or low ghost notes, or just sound really sterile), or on the other (worse) end of things, red-plate from the get-go! Hope to hear from you. In the meantime, I'll go through the 160 pages of thread here. Just ignore this post if it has been answered and I'll eventually stumble onto it here. Thanks.

Hey, Myles, would you please weigh-in on this thread: Egnater Rebel 30 combo-thread Not so much about that Egnater amp itself, but about some of the posted ideas there about tube-amp circuit design, operational class, and components... and, please, correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks.

Just tell Steve that you want 6L6's in the middle range of their tester.
