While we're on this kick of pukin' songs and beautiful songs... what entire albums do you consider to be truly great? Here's a small starter for me. I might think of some more later.
NOTE: Again, I'm trying to limit mine to ones that I consider MAGNIFICENT records, not just ones I really like a lot.
Abbey Road, The Beatles (hard for me to not say EVERY Beatles album) Unplugged, Eric Clapton Harvest, Neil Young

Dark Side of the Moon is as close to perfect as I think humans can get: sounds near perfect, not one note not needed, not one note I would want to change - and for me *that* is a ridiculous accomplishment... Many Beatles records are "great" to me, as are Hendrix (Axis), but there's always that one tune or so that's kind of... iffy. _Dark Side of the Moon_ covers soooo much ground in so many unique ways and does it so well - the flow of the record is impeccable, the timbre of the sounds, the dynamics, the lyrics - it's sublime. I've worn out many records: Queen - A Night at the Opera, Live Killers Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Meddle Hendrix - Axis, Electric Ladyland Jeff Beck - There and Back, Wired, Live with Jan Hammer Beatles - Revolver, Abbey Road Van Halen - Fair Warning, VH II Allan Holdsworth - Road Games, IOU ... but as much as I love those recordings, DSotM reigns supreme. If CD's could be worn out Jeff Buckley's _Grace_ would have to be replaced; _Super Unknown_, Bad Motor Finger_ by SG; Cocteau Twins _Blue Bell Knoll_; k.d. lang's _Ingenue_; Sarah McLachlan's _Fumbling Towards Ecstasy_.... http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald

Tedster, Simon... Well first of all thanks for your enthusiasm. Here it goes: Bijelo Dugme - Anything from them. The guitar player was Goran Bregovic (Ring any bells???) Indexi - Anything from them as well (they were way before their time. Nice music) Shank Rock - Live. That album awoke guitar player in me. Divlje Jagode - Older albums. I like work of their guitar player Zele Lipovaca. He recorded lot of guitar parts for other musicians... And there are some known groups like Prljavo kazaliste and Parni valjak, Plavi orkestar, Crvena jabuka (just the old stuff). Always wondered what happened with group named Alisa??? That's it for now... I hope I gave you some insight...

Hey, Mile, let us know where we can order a couple of these CDs...I'd love to check some of them out. If they're online, all the better. I don't mind listening to lyrics in another language...that's one thing that pisses me off...the rest of the world has to "Anglicize" their records, but we (us English speakers) whine and cry if something isn't in English. Hell, we listen to Brazilian music that's in Portuguese or something and we don't complain. Thanks!

That's why other versions of Fragile by Sting are better Anyway I found site of Croatia Records distributor for U.S. and Canada... http://www.crodisk.com/dance_pop_rock.htm You can find most of the stuff I wrote (or some other stuff). First try Greatest hits or concerts... Cheers Oh, I forgot to tell you that you can type the names into cddb database... Everything is there... As the classics have already been well-covered in this thread, I'll just mention a CD I got several months ago which hasn't been out of my (5-disc) player since: "Talking to Myself" by 7-string guitarist Matt Mitchell. I think I was primed to instantly appreciate Matt's playing by the many hours I've spent listening to Eddie Lang, Charlie Christian and Django. You can hear cuts from the CD here: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/207/matt_mitchell.html
