Back home from surgery...

In at 12:00 and out to get my fish fry by 2:30! Beat my old record by an hour!!

The good news is that the bicep tendon in question was not sufficiently damaged to need to be relocated! The bad news is that the tendon was the best part of the joint... He cleaned up what he could as best he could, but I am probably looking at a future shoulder replacement. We will maintain it until I am old enough to make that viable.

I am starting to get some feeling back in the fingers and hand following the nerve block. Prison ministry is a definite go tomorrow!! Later... and thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Boggs,

Take it easy! My wife is a Doctor and the comment that was made earlier about DRs was uncalled for. Most of them put in 80 hours a week, continuous education to stay current, and really care about their patients!

I know, here is a picture of my knee and back. (Not for the weak at heart)

Don't rush and find a GOOD PT.

Peace

Hey Boggs.

First of all I want to wish you a speedy recovery.

We have something in common. Surgery! I go in Oct. 26th for my third shoulder surgery in a little over 24 months. It will be my fourth right shoulder surgery overall. The first was 20 years ago. My last surgery, the Dr. relocated my bicep tendon and attached it with a screw. This was just one of many things he worked on. As luck would have it, I have a screw loose! The tendon became disconnected. The good news is I have a new surgeon. Dr. Kvitene. He is the team orthopedist for the L.A. Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. He is also the surgeon who performed my first surgery 20 years ago. I am fully confident this will fix it all. He is very good.

Good luck with the rehab!

Glad to hear from you Boggs. Glad the surgery went well. Shoulders are amazing, but also suck!! It is a very complex joint, and when it goes bad, it's a bitch to get back to specs.

Keep those prisoners in line, and welcome back from the hospy.

Don

Prison went incredibly well. While there, zero discomfort. Tell me I wasn't meant to be there... I have real hope for this group. It is something I wish you could all experience. These men really do remind me by their generosity of heart how to be on the outside. It is indescribable.

Anyway, I am typing this with two hands and I drove all the way down and back and went shopping and to dinner with my wife and I can play the guitar already. Doing my range of motion exercises and getting strength back in it. All of the anesthesia drugs have worn off completely now, for sure, but it isn't anything I can't handle without 'em. Thanks for the prayers and encouragement, everyone!

Some people pick their noses... I've always been a bit different. :D

Mowed the 1/2 acre of lawn today and the shoulder felt more comfortable doing it than it has in months already!! Some motions are still a bit rough, but it is coming back rediculously fast!!
