ive been hearing a particular style of dance/electronica in alot of bars and lounges i go to in the last few months (in sydney) and am wondering if this style has a name.

basically it uses house/dance and sometimes latin beats, bass but has pretty strong keyboard/rhodes/piano improvisation over it. Some of it is pretty monotonous (just sitting on the pentatonic scale) but some of the impro is really good and stylish. I heard someone mention that John Medeski plays on some of these tracks.

does this style have a name? (im quite clueless about dance music)...is it lounge? who are some of better artists (or are they djs?) of this genre?
